I am a community in unity. I have been practicing these principles and values since I was an emerging adult with two babies of my own. While learning and growing as a person, I was also healing and changing the future for my children and my children’s children. This stuff really works!

The Peaceful Project exists so children from all socio-economic backgrounds can gain the social and emotional skills to navigate their world and coexist. As the Director of Programs and Outreach I ensure the content we create and classes we teach are equitable and inclusive for all children. We are making sure that the youth we serve have adults that represent them. We immerse ourselves as part of their community, so that everyone knows and feels they are heard, seen, and understood.

There is an African proverb that says, “The two most important things we can give our children are Roots and Wings”. At The Peaceful Project we ensure children get both – a solid foundation and the affirmation to soar.

Community In Unity

Community in Unity was the missing piece in my life that I never knew was absent. As a classroom facilitator within  The Peaceful Project I have learned that peaceful communication is the foundation to healthy friendships/relationships, everyone’s feelings are valid, and you have to remind yourself of who you are DAILY!

As a wife, and a mother of 12 children of my own, I have learned how to listen to my family, and love on them from a deeper level of understanding.

Professionally I have worked in health care and the beauty industry for over 20 years. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Organization as well as a Masters degree in Business Administration. Combining what I’ve learned with The Peaceful Project and the compassion I have for people, blended into a beautiful and sincere way to lead people to healthy relationships through communication and love. My I Am Statement: I am obedient, progressing, and phenomenal.

As a facilitator for Community In Unity, I am dedicated to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for individuals from all backgrounds to come together and share their stories, experiences, and themselves. With a background in conflict resolution and a passion for the arts, I believe that creativity can be a powerful tool in bringing people together and promoting understanding.

In my career I have worked as an artist, using my creativity to explore issues of identity and social justice. As a facilitator for Community In Unity, I am committed to creating a space where children can feel free to express themselves and engage in meaningful dialogue with one another. Together, we can work towards a more peaceful and harmonious world.

When I was given the opportunity to be a part of Community In Unity (CIU), I was at a place mentally and spiritually where I had made drastic changes in my life, to the point of addressing previous trauma and digging deep into what was holding me back in my life. As I began learning the basics of what we teach in CIU I developed this passionate obsession with doing the deep personal work to not only teach these tools and new habits, but to LIVE them.

I believe wholeheartedly in the power of Social Emotional Learning in classrooms across the globe. Learning how to effectively communicate our feelings, and knowing how to take care of ourselves in tough moments, will inevitably change our world, from the inside out.

Doing this work changes you, in the best way. You begin to see yourself in a light that not many are given the chance to. It changed my whole perception of the world and my place in it. It also has this awesome way of spreading out into the lives of those around you. I do this work so that I can give this gift to others. Someone gave me their hand to follow and learn, and now it’s my turn to do the same for someone else.

I have a Vocal Performance degree and am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I have a 6 year old son named Elijah and I am a full time single mom! I own my own cleaning business and am a food delivery driver. I also teach children at my church every Sunday. I love being around young children; they are everything I want to be as an adult. They remind me what’s possible in life and give me incredible joy as they learn and grow. They truly are the future, and I’m dedicated to helping build their foundations to continue changing the world.
